The Cost

i would like to know
just exactly what i am paying
for this, my daily slaying
when i went to school
i was just window watching
in-between being a fool
i would like to know
how much all this is costing me
i have got my eyes
and i smile with little or no surprise
you are not here, you are over there
you told me that you could manage
i would like to know
i feel for your crooked rails
but now i know, i know i have failed
