The Problem is You
you ask what the problems are
without realising
it is you,
we have sat and accepted
all the things we hate
realising now
that perhaps it is too late
a man dies in the street
street homeless and cold
and the response
from the young and the old
is that there are, ‘too many foreigners’
and my heart sinks
like a boat without a hold
on a sea,
where the waves roll
and i can tell you,
it is you,
your prejudice, your ignorance
and the assumption you are right
a blot on our landscape,
a terrible blight
