Mistress Aboard Your Pirate Ship

i have seen you
as a mistress –
aboard your pirate ship
you are –
always sailing the seas
your impression –
of general custer
and his last stand
lacked american folklore
and i just could not understand
and in the eyes –
i see the person –
you could be
if only you let yourself
you are happiest –
making a deposit –
in the bank
but aboard your pirate ship
you always appear to walk the plank
