Surprised – Written Monday 6th April 2009 (Aged 34)

Surprised

i was not affected
which came as something of a surprise
no tears
and no, i am not torn up inside
no shrug or emotional pull
no pitiful cries
i was not affected
and it came as something of a surprise
i was curious
hungry to know more
who was this person
was a question with a certain lure
but there was no rough ride
as my emotions had feared
no crying deep inside
jealousy and its head, well it never reared
only curiosity
and even then, it only briefly peered
and it is true
and i have not lied
i was not affected
which came as something of a surprise
