The Man and His Poetry
people ask
about the real me
cannot match the person
to the poetry
all these comments
and all these gags
somehow do not gel
and leave them sad
i try to be honest
and talk about who i am
i see a flash in their eyes
but i do not know if they understand
or perhaps that is,
do they accept?
should we bound through life
hungry for respect?
i have spent a life
on wondering what it all means
as a child i suckled
on rainbows and dreams
but as an adult i have buckled
and often almost come apart at the seams
