Me in Reverse
the gossip
is far more interesting than the truth
the rumours
and the image
is never me
so why do i play up to it
i guess it is perverse
to see people eager to believe
a version of yourself in reverse
in truth,
i am a homely soul
and excitement
comes in small pots and not large bowls
but i am only seeing
that inner contentment
that as a child i never found
that got away
like the kite i flew
but i let go of it
the truth is there
even if it chooses to lurk
it seems perverse
to carry on
presenting as me in reverse
