I Put My Arms Around You
when i put my arms around you
i feel our love
somehow we recline
i remember chasing highs
and the immediate fix
i remember how,
it never really fits
it is not perfect
and as insecure as i am
i still take you home
and i dream for you
wanting so much more
i dream of you
at peace with yourself
at peace with the complicated world
i envy your sociability
i am lost,
too often in a childhood reality
you sing, you do accents
your comedy is spot on
i have always felt like
i was looking for a place to land on the sun
when i put my arms around you
i feel our love
