Reflections of Insecurity

of course –
you are better than the rest of us
us,
as we are described by you,
us with our, ‘difficulties’
you though,
you are elevated to a higher plane
all we can do is open up our umbrellas
for what appears to be well deserved rain

of course –
you have the best love…
although,
strangely you never actually say you love
never quite expressing that personal emotion
your, ‘perfect life’
with its neatly defined roles
no expectations
and those constant goals
separating, ‘us’, all too easily
but when i look at you
i just see reflections of insecurity
