Toybox King – Written Thursday 3rd November 1994 (Aged 19)

Toybox King

you are the toybox king
king of the toys
you are a puppet prince on a string
you are the jester drummer
who makes so much noise
toy marching soldiers
they are your army,
when you come alive
the non-discriminated princess
equal opportunities and all that
the toys of the nineties
some thin, some fat
the toybox king
in the child’s playroom
the toybox king
listens to the clockwork pipers tune
and in the child’s imagination
watches a wind up moon
a big old bin
full of toys, the toybox king
