Attention Seeker – Written Tuesday 11th May 2021 (Aged 46)

Attention Seeker

we all seek attention
the loss and the trauma
burrows
so much deeper
that is what makes us
such attention seekers
we all want
our narrative to be noticed
and not to be missed
to be number one
in the best sellers list
and if fear and hope
likes to dabble in fancy dress
then it dresses up
as the grim reaper
and that is what
makes us all attention seekers
we may balk at the idea
that it is all for attention
as if,
wanting attention is somehow bad
but trauma and loss
only know the cold
and life always needs a reliable heater
we all want to be noticed
and we are all attention seekers
