Telephone Friends
the telephone rings
and i am the other end
i need to get –
to the telephone friends
people who know me
people who understand me
strangers, from a strange reality
giving me nonsense
and total insanity
the telephone goes down
and i am all alone
no one is around
i am in a different place
and i am on marshy ground
i am without a face –
that people can judge me upon
the telephone rings
i know i am really gone
and as the angel sings
i shyly wake
to dream of my telephone rings
never wanting to let them down
i will always be trying to make amends
i need them around
i need my telephone friends
