North Korea in Red, White and Blue
the narrative
is read to me and it is shown to me
media institutions
jump into action
not to tell us anything new
but to manage the narrative
and suddenly,
we are watching collectively
state run t.v.
the propaganda pours out
in a frenzied wave –
of words and sentences
national identity must prevail
for it is that,
that ensures big companies
big institutions and big people
keep their power
and it ensures that there is a golden thread
one of inequality
running through our society
the military parade, the staged fly past
all of it… what a farce
ordinary people stand to attention
like the uninvested statues they are
people are told just what to do
we are just north korea,
in red, white and blue
