Early Morning – Written December 2001 (Aged 26)

Early Morning

i woke up,
at 5.00 in the morning
some kind of sleep
was still calling,
giants in dreams,
were still walking
i woke up,
listening to the wind outside
the beads on the door
and the trees
that shakes and shivers
as others freeze
i woke up,
and took in the still air
that early morning calm
when it often feels like –
that somebody is there
when imaginations run riot
amongst the creaks and groans
and the deadly quiet
