I Have Put on My Winter Coat

i have put on my winter coast
and i have fastened it tight
it is so cold
with a touch of the darkest night
i have counted the conversations
and wondered,
just how many more?
i have wrapped up warm
and i have pushed back against the door
i have let tears fall
and raced them to the ground
they connect with a thunderclap
but i do not hear the sound
i have wrapped up warm
somehow, with warmest gloves and scarf
but i am still cold, so very cold and scared
