A Thousand Smiles
i meet a thousand smiles
at least a dozen, i love yous
i see at least a hundred –
decent caring hearts
but all this life we have
does it not just fall apart
if we let it?
is the handbrake ever really on?
because give it a nudge
and it is over the cliff and gone
two people meet –
and just try to get along
one has the time
but the other sings a different song
i guess you cannot cry
i meet so many loving eyes
and they often pull me inside
but who can claim –
to have the one true map?
perhaps i will meet you
when i start to fall back
