Ten Ton Love – Written September 2010 (Aged 35)

Ten Ton Love

i wish i could have been better –
than i was last night
when the world i used to orbit –
proved to be no more than a dying star
what happened,
i thought it would go far
i wish i had woken up –
before that other person had made a baby
and before they had left my life
but that dying star still had some light
and though my heart was broken
my bones still had some life
i wish i was better than the second hand vehicle –
that i bought
because its ride felt flat
and destinations are still sought
i wish i was better than ten ton love
and i remembered how i once dropped from a height
i wish i could have been better –
than i was last night
