The Smile On Your Face
those copycat relationships
and identikit men
came and went in your life
wielding your problems like a knife
always and emotional knife
you were more than them
but a childhood –
spent on the subs bench
meant you were wrongly left –
fighting in a trench
and in the end the heart you had
was with you in the end
you had us and you had friends
you followed your own path
stubborn to the end
but we would not have had you –
any other way
like everyone else,
there seems to be more to say
but now we face new days
and you have gone far away
