I Wonder If You Will Ever See – Written June 2008 (Aged 33)

I Wonder If You Will Ever See

when you are labelled by someone
and that label –
is something as serious,
as autism
when you are told –
that all the things you dearly hold
are actually quite cold
and this is because a stranger
has told you that you are, ‘autistic’
the there are repercussions
and the responsibility of the accusation
has to run deep
because there is an immense pain –
which it causes
especially when given by a stranger
one who is quick to darkly mutter
but is blind to all the danger

James Garratt – June 2008
