Kindred Spirits
you said that we were kindred spirits
you have found,
every room in my being
and now fate has stopped us
i cry and watch you leaving
you know, i did fall in love
no one told me life was this difficult
and no one told me of the hurt
you said so much that made sense
and i happily followed you
your eyes locked onto me like a beam
i lay in your lap
and i thought of joint dreams
but now i am here with heartache
and so many unanswered questions
my heart pleads but it does not hate
you said you had never met anyone like me
and i did cartwheels of self belief
you exploded into my space,
like a rocket
you swept me off my clumsy feet
and no one will ever know how much i wept
it’s been hell, it’s been painful
so painful since you stepped out and left
