Rough Guide
the rough guide to my life
was not theirs to write
the lonely planet guide
was not theirs to plan
they were not prepared to listen
so how could they understand
don’t it hurt so,
when people tell you who you are
but they have –
never taken your journey
and they have never sat around
listening to your hopes and dreams
the travel brochure for my dreams
was not something they wanted to believe
the roadmap to my heart
was not something they ever wanted to read
and when it went wrong
they were the first to complain
and then they started to cry
yet given all the chances,
they never looked inside
