Love Was Sleeping

you wrote that, ‘love was sleeping’
let me assure you,
it does not lie prone and weeping
you said that,
‘you did not want to be without me’
well, now there is freedom
but i have never actually felt less free
and i feel such hurt
as a sense of loss takes hold of me
