The Roots of Kindness – Written Wednesday 27th April 2022 (Aged 47)

The Roots of Kindness

self conscious eyesight –
peers into the distance
the kindness,
only comes from the darkness i see
shards of trauma
have sliced my insanity
and that is why i offer my hands
there are no selfless gestures
that much i understand

self conscious eyesight
knows what lies behind
how it wrestles with the emotions
that struggle to draw lines
the kindness,
only happens,
not as a token
but by the sheer nature of trauma
and how it reminds us what is broken
