The Man On The Corner – Written Wednesday 3rd January 2001 (Aged 25)

The Man On The Corner

the man on the corner
had gold coloured hands
doorways are places to go
not places to sleep
the girl on the corner
can always weep
the man on the corner
wants me to buy a magazine
the man behind the desk
wants me to share my feelings
he has neatly wrapped hands
but he does not understand
people are ready to go
they are not ready to sleep
i do not want to give up
so i will recline in my madness
and reflect on the sadness

James Garratt – Wednesday 3rd January 2001
