He Doesn’t Let Her Breathe
he doesn’t let her breathe
he is her eyes and ears
he doesn’t let her see
he doesn’t let her have feelings
not ones that he can control
it is too tight for comfort
when he has her in his hold
he doesn’t let her breathe
she suffocates under his insecurity
she clenches her fists
and she grinds her teeth
it is not the answer
it is harsh and a long way from the beach
every man is a threat,
ever man is a rival
he doesn’t let her breathe
but to him, this is a form of survival
he is her eyes and ears
she is not his love,
she is cover for his traumatic fears
he doesn’t let her breathe
never far and always near
and for all the creatures in a cage
all you can do is shed a tear
