I Am Close To A Fire

i am close to a fire
i am quite warm
i am getting older
i am not so close to the edge
i am sitting down
and staring at the ledge

i am close to a fire
i do not want to move to much
this outwardly boring lifestyle
feels cool to the touch
and it certainly makes a change
being settled is dangerous
but then, so is being insane

i am close to a fire
i am halfway there
one day i might find someone
for whom i deeply care
but then, who wants to grow old?
i am close to fire
quite warm and not that cold
