So Many Goodbyes – Written December 2008 (Aged 33)

So Many Goodbyes

so when the boat sails away
stand there and dry your eyes
because the love you cherish so much
leaves for distant shores
and evaporates like a touch

when the birds finally migrate
when they finally fly south
just remember the love you had
and let the words fall from your mouth

so when the person leaves
try to work through the moments
when you are crushed
by the stray memories
that remind you when you were loved

i always knew that they would do this
so when the boat sailed away
i stood there and dried my eyes
because life is full of many moments
and sadly, so many goodbyes
