Love and Respect – Written Thursday 1st February 2001 (Aged 25)

Love and Respect

love and respect
i cradle one in my arms
but one has got up and left
and although one is still alive
the other has died a death

love and respect
i used to think they were one and the same
conversation is the flowerbed
it is the root of love
respect is what’s earnt
and becomes a heavenly kingdom above

love and respect
one is the ripples
one is the pond
one leaves you an emotional cripple
and the other urges you to go on

love and respect
i hold one so dear
and i hold onto it for you
but one is not here
and it is so sad, but then, what can i do
