Heartstrings
you are still the same
feeling those heartstrings tug again
no,
i don’t think you do respect me
like you said
and after everything you have done
it is hardly a show of respect
you are still the same
and my need is ever present
i am watching it multiply all over again
so i have been taught a lesson
but the pain cannot be segregated
and what do you think of me now?
now i have become educated
i hope you feel better
after all, you seem much the same
you still look beautiful
you are still special
well, here is a toast to all the fools
and the knowledge that time itself
is in fact, so very cruel
