Bonfires of Human Lust
feelings fell apart
and then they fell to the floor
parents,
quietly closed the door
self-image –
and self-worth
ran away –
and hid in a saxon church
as life experience watched on
and swung on a birch
i can’t explain why,
but feelings came back –
and made such merry mirth
parents,
quickly made up
and adopted some kind of fancy dress
the problem is and always was,
divorce only ever wears its sunday best
and when it comes to it –
it will always bury itself –
in more hallowed turf
feelings fell apart
and then they fell to the floor
i was told that they were just split milk
and that i should not cry anymore
because in those borrowed bedrooms
i had to wonder,
what do we learn
because bonfires of human lust
ignite furiously and then quickly burn
