Yesterday Took My Breath Away
Who am I to lie
when it comes to
the sun, the moon,
the clouds,
and the sky?
The first time I felt this way
was sometime ago.
Now I know
why the night turns to day.
Falling from the sky—
with no one to catch me—
I felt it was over,
I thought I would die.
Yesterday took my breath away.
And now,
it’s today.
I am burnt,
I am bruised.
Things feel strange,
as people run around
with nothing to do
and nothing to say—
not a single sound.
Yesterday took my breath away.
