Did I know You In A Past Life
faces that pass me
friends alive in my memory
did i know you in past life?
faces that appear to ring a bell
in another time,
were you my wife?
faces with a story to tell
in another time,
i stood with my daughters
by those derbyshire streams
and i watched the rushing water
only things unknown,
knows what it really means
faces that meet faces
that come alive in my memory
to faraway places
that belong in another time
when i still woke to the world
yet it was an older one
when i toiled for egyptian gold
or ran from my muddy trench,
brandishing a tommy gun
faces that swim through my thoughts
i recognise them as a person
were they someone i once knew
some i loved or someone i just saw
these faces hold the clue
and almost, just about open a door
see if i see you as you see me
i never wonder about my sanity
it’s just the faces that pass me
