She Hides It Inwardly – Written October 1997 (Aged 22)

She Hides It Inwardly

the most beautiful girl you see
hides her beauty
and she hides it inwardly
and then,
just as she makes you laugh
you realise it’s a beautiful reality
she could choke on her drink
and leave you for the last bus home
but you think being with her
will mean that you are alone
but she makes you laugh
just like an obscure rumour –
about someone you barely know
she has a sense of humour
that seems destined to grow
she is not fat and she is not thin
she is not high on business mentality
the politics of life,
might be a non reality
but she makes you laugh
and that’s good for your sanity
the most beautiful girl you see
hides her beauty
and she hides it inwardly
