Mother
mother, the rain has come
and mother, i am only young
do you remember when you used to hold me
how you used to wipe away my tears
mother, the rain has come
let’s roll back the years
everybody is working
everybody has got something to lean on
mother, the rain has come
and it’s been so long since the sun shone
every time i fell over,
you picked me up
and you tended to the grazes upon my knees
mother, i am only young
but i am asking, won’t you please
mother, the rain has come
could you make all this alright?
could you help me paint a picture
let’s paint of the day and not of the night
mother, the rain has come
and i feel like i am going to drown
can’t you do as you used to do
pick me up because right now i am so down
