Me And My Soulmate

me and my soulmate
we have never met
and i am sure that if we had
it would be something we’d never forget
me and my soulmate
we don’t yet have each others number
we have never called each other
we have never used the telephone –
to call each other
we’ve both just stayed alone
me and my soulmate
have never gone out for a drink
and we’ve never got close
because we’ve not yet found each other
me and my soulmate
we are dying to be together
but there is this problem –
none of us know who the other one is
we could pass each other in a desolate street
it’s going to be so hard for us to meet
me and my soulmate
they must be good, inwardly beautiful
and with an outward look
i know i could make it to some place
and wait, just wait
i know we’re looking for each other
me and my soulmate
