I Knew The Truth When I Was a Child – Written May 2006 (Aged 31)

I Knew The Truth When I Was a Child

i knew the truth when i was a child
when i pretended to sleep on the settee
i knew the truth,
i knew that house was no place for me
everyone was too busy making jam
to be part of the family
too busy being rejected to taste the sweet honey
i knew the truth when i was a child
when some have choked on the sins they’ve been fed
i was following ghosts at the end of my bed
and i was figuring out me from the craziness in my head
it’s a shame there not less hands
for me to be so easily led
i knew the truth when i was a child
