Birdsong – Written November 2007 (Aged 32)

Birdsong

the birds will not sing today
instead,
they will perch on the branches
and form a line of respect
for a while,
birdsong will be silenced
and the flowers will bow their heads
for a while,
as happiness lies downs
grief will be there instead
the birds will not fly today
they will sit in their nests
and for a while birdsong will be silent
if only out of respect
so let the birds be quiet
let their silence tell the tale
i know birdsong raises a smile
but for her happiness has gone stale
but remember,
one day birdsong will return
and the sun will shine once again
flowers will flower,
and the birds will fly once more
the grief is so painful
letting go, saying goodbye
but know that you are never alone
and we all hold inside
