Teardrops – Written November 2007 (Aged 32)

Teardrops

will the children –
be cradled in your teardrops?
will they play –
in the park of your past
the one,
where the slide rusts
and it always feels dark
will they wear your heavy coat
the one with empty pockets
will they fear destinations
and be scared to board the train
will your boundaries –
reflect in their pain?
will they keep their hands –
firmly at their sides
never chancing the stairs
or reaching for untouched skies
will the children –
be cradled in your teardrops?
will the cycle of shame,
of guilt and pain ever truly stop?
