Misguided Pride
people say congratulations
instead of…
are you okay?
people applaud –
when in fact,
they should be concerned
people never see the trauma
so do they ever learn
do they notice the person so broken
one who cannot move on or away
they listen to the words spoken
and never ask if they are okay
people are blind to trauma
and behaviours likely to ruin
they do not seem to understand –
the pain of suffering
they just say congratulations
or well done,
i saw them say it to him
and he was broken quite young
their pride –
was his trauma inside
his inability to manage a situation
has led him dark paths
people say congratulations
they should listen to his heart
they should see his un-wellness
they should reach out and then take part
