A Pitch To Play On
when they look at me
it is there,
written like sky words
written like sky words –
in their eyes
eyes which long to shine
and i do,
i wrestle with it in my mind
i look at others
as they slide and fit in
i long for the covers
and the slow, slow, gin
when they look at me
i see every sky word
i see what they mean
i know there is a mess in my life
and they offer me a cleaner
a pitch to play on
where the grass is greener
but i know it’s not real
these relationships,
that all come to heel
but then they look at me
i know how they feel
