The World Has Gone Crazy

people are saying –
the world has gone crazy
when did this happen
and why wasn’t informed earlier?
shouldn’t we get it some help
surely if it’s crazy
shouldn’t we be getting it some therapy?
or something like that
if the world is crazy –
it’ll have a problem telling fantasy from fact
and it’s really bad –
if there’s going to be no turning back

people are saying –
the world has gone crazy
but i have noticed they’ve done nothing to help
so we’ve put on a straightjacket
and it seems to be the only way we think
if the world is on the edge
shouldn’t someone bring it back from the brink
before it goes right over
and we are left floundering before we finally sink
i wasn’t aware as a child
that the world had gone crazy
but then those days are a little hazy
so maybe that is why
