New Ways to Invent Who We Are

we have new ways to –
invent who we are
social media narratives
have become like sweets in a jar
this is me,
this is who i am
what you see is always me
you have to understand
but what about –
all that life experience undertaken
i think versions of the truth
they get forsaken
i think what really happened
is easily taken
we have found new foods
and new dishes to try
new ways to feed our narcissism
new ways to lie
but power is powerful
and voices need to be found
because in these days of abandonment
everyone wants a unique sound
echo chambers become water tanks
where all of our truths start to drown
