These Streets – Undated but most likely written late 2013 (Aged 37)

These Streets

i walked these streets
you know, i played on these streets
i knew these buildings
even the ones that they have pulled down
when they had tired of the victorians
and their seaside town
amazing, how a place never leaves you
and how it will always be home
how the streets and buildings weep
and how they seep into your bones
but leaving, that was inevitable
and i cannot say it was regrettable
life takes turns and none of us can predict
and we cannot swing on memories
and cling to london bricks
i know those alleys
and i know those busted cobblestones
i know those roads –
the ones that relinquish the past
and for the future, continue to atone
but we leave, maybe with a thought –
of what could have been
but it is time to add space and grass
to what were once seaside dreams
