False Prophets – Written Saturday 7th April 2007 (Aged 32)

False Prophets

tried to tell me about my childhood
tried to simplify…
if only i could!
tried to tell me who i was
what i am
and how only they could truly understand
but,
i have had a lifetime of false prophets
false dawns
lost loves
shattered promises
i have followed thousands of pied pipers
but,
tried to tell me who i was
and show me the way
but when it comes to false prophets –
offering me dreams
i can always say,
yes i have
but i have always looked hard inside
and that’s where i have found the maps
