All I Has To Give Was Me

all i had to give was me
it seems
it could not set you free
i red the words
even on blank paper
i can read between the lines
all you had
was a lifetime of hills and mountains
i had dreamt of a european square
of beautiful fountains
but you were not there
all i had to give was me
it seems
it could not set you free
have you ever actually thought
about how some else feels
have you ever embraced the saying
being in someone else’s shoes
