Publish Your Book

i will publish your book
says the man in a cloak
but his tie is wide like a kipper
and his sectary is about to croak
he looks just like jack the ripper
and he has my ego by the throat
give me many thousands –
of your english pounds
and i will get you published
so, don’t get too down
and before you know it –
you have paid them a merry mint
but the book is not published
and you are most definitely skint
the man in a cloak
no longer replies,
dr crippen skips merrily –
in the corner of his eyes
and you have paid this person –
a very tidy sum
but it was for vanity and ego
and know you know you’ve been done
beware of the agent,
who says they will get you published
none of us are cinderella
and fairytales rarely ring true
i certainly do not fit the slipper
there is a man in a cloak
and he looks just like jack the ripper
