My Constant Apology – Written Thursday 1st February 2024 (Aged 48)

My Constant Apology

achievements…
i sort of apologise for them
because, i guess,
i am a product of if and when
and i have made potions –
from the toxicity of men
i have taken risks –
that creditors could not accept
and i have let down people –
who encouraged me –
to use them as a buy-to-let
only to see the love,
lost to regret
achievements…
i look at others when they mention mine
my first reaction is to apologise
because self esteem can be blind
and wounds –
don’t completely heal over time
i feel like,
there should be some justification
as if i am up against it
and when world weary eyes need litigation
then achievements find it hard to sit,
and that always feels like me,
uncomfortable in doing well,
my constant apology
