Pick Up Younger Me

pick up younger me
teach them,
what they need to be
board a bus,
answer a phone
tackle the fomo,
quell the need to roam
get them dressed
calm them down,
life is not such a quest
or a solitary noun

pick up younger me
dust them down,
give them tools
the type they’ve never had
talk to them about her,
and her mum and dad
tell younger me
that none of it is that bad
stop the spiralling structure
making them so sad
tell them,
it was never that bad
