Fuel In The Tank – Written Thursday 21st September 2023 (Aged 48)

Fuel In The Tank

there is fuel in the tank
but does a husband,
hurry from the croft?
does a wife dovetail,
for the doves that live in the loft
do, passing ships,
mean fertile hips
does sweet repression,
harbour sordid lips?
i wonder,
what goes on in the maze
that others chew upon
the craze,
that surrenders our sanity
and takes it back,
to those base desires
why is sense and sensibility
so attracted to roaring fires?
i smell the fumes,
of the fuel in their tank
and all of their castle labours
see drawbridges built of oak planks
and good harbours,
but with very little support or thanks
but i know of champions
with fuel in their tank,
who hold possessions that they need to bank
who once, had such confidence,
only to then, to watch as one day it sank
