The Loss of Norms – Written Wednesday 1st April 2020 (Aged 45)

The Loss of Norms

you are scared
we are all anxious and frightened
you are concerned
we are all watching our norms burn
and new one
are quickly born
and we do not know what –
they will grow into
i tell you, day by day
but i know and i realise
it is phrase with little to say
i am scared
i am anxious and frightened
i am concerned
i looked at the world we live in
as our fragile norms start to burn
i fear the sugar taste of self interest
will taint the new norms born
of our comforts –
we are shorn
watch the fragile paper thin society
easily become torn
let’s hold each other tight
simple phrase, but so much meaning
in love,
we are leaning
and with each other, we are not leaving
