Steadfast Surrealism – Written Setpember 2023 (Aged 48)

Steadfast Surrealism

she has fallen in love with me
so my ego thinks…
but my self esteem plays a xylophone
as my perception starts to drink
my realism,
wears fake mink,
and dances uncontrollably with my imagination
as my dreams attempt to unblock a sink
she touches me,
with soft bitten english words
those silhouettes always find company
believe me,
my eyes saw it first
she has stroked my ego,
and i am grateful
once it has soft and inviting furs
but now it is rational
and it only occasionally omits a soft purr
we are fine,
her world lives so far away
and once upon a time,
i would have chased down a different day
but my confidence moved away
from it’s steadfast surrealism
and it joined a realistic school of realism
where hostage takers were expelled or banned
and i learnt of a carefully constructed framework
one which i could understand
